Burger King Serves ‘Poop’ Ice Cream After Moldy Whopper To Portray Natural Foods

The last thing restauranteurs want is for their food to be Gordon Ramsay-ed, but Burger King is going against the grain and is personally drawing unsightly parallels with the runs.

‘Poop Emoji Ice Cream’, bringing to mind a steaming frozen pile of crap, is now being served at a special ice cream truck in Brazil. The chain’s rationale for this is just as baffling as the idea itself: It may look like s**t, but it certainly doesn’t contain nor taste like s**t—AKA chemicals and preservatives that aren’t great for the body.

The icky-looking soft serve, complete with eyes and a mouth, is meant to represent Burger King Brazil’s dessert menu, which is 100% free of artificial ingredients. The counterintuitive—though admittedly adorable—item aims to imprint a lasting image on the minds of consumers about the fast-food giant’s love of natural ingredients.

Side note: Did you know the poop emoji was, in fact, the basis for the soft-serve ice cream emoji? When creating the icon for the sweet treat, Apple designers simply added a cone to its shape.

The idea for Burger King’s poop-inspired ice cream comes from the São Paulo division of David The Agency, the same advertising agency that created that unforgettable, stomach-turning Moldy Whopper campaign. No surprises there.

The soft serve will be available for a limited time, though the chain is deliberating on making it a permanent fixture on the menu.
