IKEA Debuts Cozy Candles Inspired By Scandinavian Woods & Fresh Nature

While the dream is to spend more time in nature, that’s not always possible especially if you live in the city. IKEA is thus luring the outdoors into homes with its latest home fragrance collection created alongside British interior designer Ilse Crawford of Studioilse.
“Scents can influence how we feel,” the Swedish furniture giant points out in a press release. “By experiencing scent, we can set a mood, and influence our state of mind whether it’s feeling energized, focused, or most importantly create a sense of calmness.”
With the new selection, homebodies are treated to eight recalls to the freshness of nature, two of which were crafted by Crawford, who was flown into Paris to develop the seasonal fragrances with expert perfumers. Her two candles are steeped in the experience of walking in the wild, wood-filled Scandinavian forests.

There’s ADLAD, a fragrance drawn from the scent of Scandinavian forests and human presence, as well as ENSTAKA, which denotes smoky bonfires “and our most primal need for warmth,” says IKEA.

Wooden aromas, to Crawford, bring to mind IKEA’s own stores too. She thinks of its wooden floors and furniture, which all have beginnings in the forest, Crawford tells Apartment Therapy.
The candles vary in size and are designed to burn for 12 to 60 hours. After which, their vessels can be recycled for other purposes. IKEA embraces circularity in longevity, so the glass and ceramic holders—designed by Crawford herself—are sustainable and made to live in the bathroom, kitchen, or even be reused as mugs.

The cozy fragrances will reach IKEA stores around the world beginning April 2022.
