While mobile gaming has grown by leaps since the days of the first iteration of Angry Birds or crowd hit Flappy Bird, players today have to contend with in-app purchases to level up or get rid of the numerous advertisements.
In the spirit of embracing the good ol days, the creators of Angry Birds has brought back the original game to smartphones, and while it does cost 99 cents, it promises no in-app purchases once you’ve downloaded the app.
According to Engadget, creator Rovio penned a letter to fans that it had to remove older titles from circulation, as it became an impossible task to support multiple versions without constant updates.
However, it seems fans had lobbied for a more nostalgic gaming experience, leading the firm to work on rebuilding the original Angry Birds—which has just been released on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
The company saidittook “great care to preserve the feeling of the original Angry Birds game,” and that “matching the gameplay, and appearance of the game next to the original was crucial.”
