Official Salvador Dalí Works Enter NFT World Without Burning A Hole In Wallets

Salvador Dalí makes a comeback in the aptly surreal era of crypto art. With an ambition to introduce classic artworks to modern collectors, contemporary art collection platform Artscapy and Dalí Universe—which oversees one of the largest private Dalí art collections—have partnered to bring the first authorized selection of Salvador Dalí non-fungible tokens.
The digital collectibles, now being sold on the Artscapy and Dalí Universe NFT platforms, turn the clock back and preserve eight iconic Dalí sculptures, including Dance of Time III, Lady Godiva, and Nobility of Time. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Dalí collection without those quintessential melted clock faces, and a few of those feature here.

This is just the first “of many” Dalí NFT artworks to expect between the two. The debut coincides with the Spellbound: Scenography of a Dream exhibition of Dalí and Alfred Hitchcock works now showing at the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore Alla Pietrasanta in Naples, Italy.

Each sculpture comes in an edition of 9,999 and retails for an affordable US$30 apiece.

The purchasing process won’t be too daunting for first-time collectors, as the collection doesn’t require crypto; traditional fiat or bank cards will work.
“Having passionately collected and curated the works of Dalí for the past 70 years, I am excited to see Dali’s work take on a new life in the digital sphere and to be part of this historic moment,” describes Beniamino Levi, president of Dalí Universe, in a press release. Dalí Universe owns the rights to more than 25 of the artist’s sculptures, along with over 100 images.

Artscapy adds: “We will be supporting the preservation of Dalí’s artistic legacy and bringing some truly iconic artworks into a new format, adding value to existing Dalí enthusiasts as well as new audiences by creating the first-ever official, limited edition, digital art production of the artist on NFT.”
Proceeds made from the sales will go to Dalí Universe and its work in protecting the Surrealist master’s legacy.
