Paramount Global, the parent company of children’s channel Nickelodeon, has announced it will be making its content free for Ukrainian refugees who have fled to neighboring countries in search of safety and reprieve from the war.
Plus, as per Republic World, Paramount Pictures will halt broadcasting of all of multiple channels in Russia from April 20.
The entertainment firm had initially donated US$1 million to humanitarian relief efforts, and is stepping up yet again to provide much-loved series in the Ukrainian language on free, advertising-supported Pluto TV, linear TV, and YouTube to kids all over Europe.
Its goal, according to The Hollywood Reporter, is to provide “comfort” and allow the displaced children “to continue feeling at home” by enabling them to still tune into their favorite cartoons even if they’ve had to travel abroad.
Pluto TV Nick Ukraine has now been made available on Pluto TV in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France, Spain, and Italy, and broadcasts fan favorites including SpongeBob SquarePants, Bubble Guppies, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Families hosting refugees will be able to access these shows for free, without any prior signup required.
In addition, a special pop-up channel, Nickelodeon Ukraine Pluto TV, will be made available at no cost in over 30 partner services across Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa, and will air nonstop programming for children of all ages, with shows such as PAW Patrol for younger toddlers.
On YouTube, select Nickelodeon and Nick Jr channels will begin introducing Ukrainian-language content for children who aren’t able to access regular television networks, so they can still be entertained and feel at home with their usual programs throughout the day.
