Cult Label Serves Recycled Cutlery In Appetizing Sustainable Jewelry Line

If you’re one to keep abreast of up and coming fashion designers, you’d no doubt have heard of Marine Serre. Best known for her signature crescent moon motif, the 30-year-old French designer has championed sustainability for years. 

According to Highsnobiety, Serre has experimented with deadstock fabrics, upcycling old garments, and other forms of the “reduce, reuse, recycle” mantra to create more environmentally-friendly fashion pieces.

Now, the 2017 LVMH Young Fashion Designer Prize winner has turned her attention to jewelry, making it out of a rather unexpected upcycled material: kitchen utensils.

That’s right. Marine Serre’s latest launch features earrings, necklaces, and rings that Madde from everyday forks and knives, crafting them into unique shapes and styles. 

Accompanying the utensils in the aptly-named ‘Arts de la Table’ collection are shells, pearls, and beads collected from across the world, which the brand says “transports us to family dinners from the past.”
