Leica & Panasonic Partner To Design Tech For Future Cameras & Lenses
Leica and Panasonic are teaming up in a new partnership, named L² Technology, to tap on the technologies and know-how of the two companies in order to develop the next generation of camera software and solutions for “a new imaging world.”
In particular, the joint project will leverage Leica’s optical and imaging technology and Panasonic’s video and digital technology, allowing both to jointly invest in upcoming innovations that can be incorporated into future cameras and lenses.
The new technologies will then be incorporated into Leica and LUMIX products in an effort to create new possibilities for creative camera users, and expand the capabilities of these gadgets.
“With the arrival of an era in which photos and videos are shared globally in real time, cameras are required to have capability to create more impressive and breathtaking expression,” said Akira Toyoshima, CEO at Panasonic Entertainment & Communication Co Ltd.
“I have always been impressed by the high picture quality and the picture-making philosophy that Leica has developed over its long history. I am very pleased and excited to continue working with Leica to develop technology that will enable people around the world to share their emotions,” he added.
