Mercedes-Benz Recalls Nearly A Million Older Cars Around The World

After identifying an issue with the brake boosters on several models that had been manufactured a number of years ago, Mercedes-Benz and the German federal transport authority (KBA) have officially issued a statement that will be recalling cars globally.

Corrosion in the brake booster was identified, which could cause mechanical damage if you were to hit the brakes suddenly—and in extreme cases, even accidents. 993,407 vehicles were identified for the recall, 70,000 of which came from Germany itself.  

The cars that have been recalled include ML and GL-Class SUVs, as well as certain R-Class minivans, that have been produced between 2004 and 2015. Owners of these models would be contacted by the automaker directly, soon as the recall is taking immediate effect. Owners are also advised not to drive their cars for now.  

The recall would include an inspection of the vehicle and replacing any parts, where necessary, if Mercedes-Benz deems it unsafe for continued use. The company did not mention any car replacement if the braking system fault is discovered. 

Mercedes-Benz has also said that the recall comes from its pledge to keep customers safe while in use of its vehicles.
