Last month, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, a noted Apple insider, revealed that the company’s staff recently demonstrated its highly-anticipated AR/VR headset to the company’s board of directors, signaling the possibility we could soon see the device on store shelves.
However, following its absence from the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2022, industry insiders have now come out with an updated timeline, predicting that the gadget could be delayed till Q2 2023.
In particular, as per Gizmodo, renowned tech analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has tweeted that due to pandemic-related lockdowns in China, production of the headset has been delayed, leading to its release date being pushed back by several months.
According to his timeline, the device will be unveiled at an Apple event in January 2023, with pre-orders beginning in Q2 2023, and it hitting the shop aisles before WWDC 2023.
This rumor was backed up by sources of the New York Times, with two people familiar with ongoings reporting that “weak computing power” and battery issues could be the reason behind the gadget’s postponement.
Will we finally see Apple’s AR/VR headset next year? One can only hope!
