Dyson Showcases House Robots That Could Herald The End Of Doing Chores

Dyson has recently announced that, besides working on vacuums and hairdryers, it has been developing robots specialized in completing your chores—an endeavor it has been working on in the last 10 years in hopes to bring automation to homes.

The tech giant has used this announcement as a way to attract new employees as it looks to grow its company with a mass hiring of 700 across the United Kingdom and Singapore. However, Dyson is a top-secret company that keeps its cards close to its chest. Now, in its attempt to be attractive to the top talent in these industries, it has unveiled its newest invention. 

The robots are set to take over monotonous chores such as dishwashing, mopping, vacuuming, and picking things up from the floor with movable arms and grippers. At this current stage in the development, the bots are not at full functionality and do not have enough directional prowess to complete these tasks.  

In order for them to not get into the way of inhabitants, the robots are being taught to “see” and move around the house carefully through sensors and cameras, which help them distinguish between humans and objects.  

Household robotics feel like something out of a futuristic movie, and, often, those end up in some sort of revolution taking place. So while it may be nice to never have to do the dishes again, whether we can live in peace with robots is another story.
