Porsche Creates ‘America Edition’ Cabriolet To Mark 70 Years Of Roadster

Porsche is letting its patriotic flag fly with the new 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet America Edition, adorned in true-blue American colors.
As the name suggests, the limited-edition model takes after the 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet, though it really is a 70th-anniversary love letter to the classic 356 America Roadster. Two years after debuting the first Porsche sports car in the country in 1950, importer Max Hoffman consulted the German automaker to design a more affordable version for US drivers, and the 356 America Roadster was born.

The new American all-star sports a colorway of Azure Blue on its body, white on its wheels, a rare Guards Red pinstripe, and black on the convertible top and windshield. A neat touch is its keys, which are painted in the patriotic blue. The car is also branded with the word “America.”

As Forbes notes, black was selected as the interior’s primary hue to accentuate its Guards Red and Pebble Gray accents.

The sports car is powered by a twin-turbocharged three-liter flat-six engine to deliver 473 horsepower and 570 Nm of torque. Exclusively for this 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet, there’ll also be a seven-speed manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive.
Only 115 of these cars will be produced, and they’ll all be sold in North America—with 100 allocated for the US and just 15 for Canada. This 2023 model will reach showrooms later this year at prices starting from US$184,920.
