Snap and Vogue are tying high-fashion with high-tech by launching an augmented-reality filter that allows you to “try on” clothes from luxury designers.
The AR lenses come with a new exhibit being held by Snap and Vogue called the Vogue x Snapchat: Redefining the Body, which is held at the Centre D’Art La Malmaison in Cannes and features exclusive designs by Balenciaga, Dior, Gucci, Stella McCartney, Versace, and more. Each room holds a new environment created specifically to fit the different brands.
The exhibit combines physical fashion with a digital landscape, and you can explore it all directly from your smartphone. Using the new AR lens, or under the ‘Dress Up’ tab in the Lens Explorer on Snapchat, you can not only try on the clothes but also take part in the experiences designed for each room of the exhibit.
You could, for example, warp the walls in the Gucci room or witness as details are sewn onto a statue in the Dior room. In the Balenciaga room, you could try on the clothes and swap your surroundings for different backgrounds.
The filter comes by way of digital fashion platform DressX, which helped make the lens. This new venture seeks to bring high fashion to the masses and also inspire the next generation of designers and techies to break the boundaries of innovation.
