Twitter, The New Blogger? It’s Trialing Posts Without Character Limits
Journalists, editors, and writers of all kinds can often be found on Twitter, one of the most popular text-based social media platforms around.
Now, in a bid to strengthen its draw on those who love to write, want to expand opportunities, or simply just like to blog, the platform is testing out a new long-form writing feature with ‘Notes’.
According to Engadget, the long-rumored launch has been coming for a while, and will allow writers to publish freeform content (no more character limit!) to their hearts’ desires.
In short, ‘Notes’ are tweets without a designated endpoint, and users can choose to pad out their essays with photos, videos, and quote other tweets.
Once a writer has published a Note, they’ll be able to share it on their Twitter profiles, boosting eyeballs on important content that may usually get lost in a series of tweets.
At the moment, the function will only be available to select writers from Canada, Ghana, the UK, and the US who are testing it, although you can follow their journey and keep track of their comments day-by-day here.
