‘Titanic’ To Dock Again In Cinemas Worldwide, 3D-Remastered For 25th Anniversary

No matter how many times you watch the Titanic sink over and over again, it will always feel as if you were watching it for the first time. Now, those who were there when it first opened in theaters in 1997 get to relive James Cameron’s magnum opus for the first time again.  

Remastered in 3D 4K and HDR high frame rate, the new version is set to immerse audiences even further into the movie. The movie sets sail on February 10, 2023, internationally by Disney, as reported by Deadline. The news first broke from Lightstorm Entertainment and Cameron’s production partner, Jon Landau, at Disney’s CineEurope in Barcelona on Wednesday.

There, a 3D clip of the film was teased, spreading excitement among fans at the prospect of seeing Titanic once again on the big screen. 

This would be the second celebratory screening that Titanic has received after its first reappearance in theaters in 2012 to mark the 100th anniversary of the actual cruise ship sinking.

Titanic is a movie that has truly stood the test of time, crystallizing the memory of the star-crossed vessel. In a way, the movie’s success has kept the name of the ship afloat for what feels like generations to come.

The film had once been the highest-grossing film worldwide after it pulled in an impressive US$2.2 billion at the global box office. It was only succeeded by another member of the Cameron film family, Avatar.
