Philadelphia Cream Cheese has opened its own restaurant, and it’s not just any old run-of-the-mill diner with cheese at its heart. ‘Feeladelphia’, as it is named, is a multisensory concept dining experience that has you ordering based on your feelings and not on your cravings.
Jeremiah Stone and Fabián Von Hauske Valtierra, who are head chefs at Michelin-starred restaurants Contra and Wildair, are working with the dairy company to bring this restaurant to life.
The restaurant will only be open in New York City from July 14 to July 16 and will be available for reservations via OpenTable. The total three-hour experience will only set you back US$35, with all proceeds being donated to charity.
As expected, the menu is entirely made of cheese dishes. If you’re lactose-intolerant, you may want to skip this experience. However, instead of the names being descriptive of the dish, they are dubbed things like ‘allure’, ‘curiosity’, and ‘spontaneity’. The idea is to spark sensations and feelings within customers as they enjoy this new dining experience.
Philadelphia’s parent company, Kraft Heinz, will also be releasing a Feeladelphia Experience: An Immersive Cookbook on a microsite. The recipes center around cheese as the main ingredient, and the book is made out of pages you can eat, auditory interfaces, and scented interactions.
The entire experience is aimed to reinvigorate a community of people who have been jaded by the pandemic and to give them a sort of reprieve by presenting new experiences.
