‘Breaking Bad’s Walter & Jesse Are Being Immortalized As Statues In Albuquerque

Two effigies of television’s most beloved and famous characters, Walter White (Bryan Cranston) and Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul), will be installed in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The bronze statues will honor Breaking Bad’s leading characters while also paying homage to the city that played an equally important role in the series.

Despite the fact that the series concluded in 2013, it continues to have a significant impact on pop culture a decade later. The series creator, Vince Gilligan, has donated the two statues to the city’s convention center as a way of giving back to the place that played host to the legendary show.

The show has sparked a growth in tourism as fans flock to visit famous scenic locales where the franchise was filmed. With the colorful and modern architecture of the city located on the edge of the desert, Albuquerque has played the perfect role in setting the scene during tense and emotional moments throughout the series.   

Now, viewers will have an even bigger reason to head down to view the statues. While Cranston and Paul have hung up their Tyvek suits and goggles on the roles, Albuquerque continues to play an essential character in Breaking Bad’s spinoff, Better Call Saul, which follows Bob Odenkirk’s sordid lawyer, Saul Goodman.   

It is unknown when the statues will be ready for fans to visit on pilgrimage to the show, but with the end of Better Call Saul on the horizon and a new AMC show being produced in the city, they can perhaps expect it to be unveiled soon.
