If Microsoft’s ugly holiday sweaters aren’t really your thing, maybe its latest launch will be up your alley. After all, it features the company’s signature desktop background, and who can resist that?
Dubbed ‘Hardwear’, the technology giant’s newest clothing capsule, designed in collaboration with Supervsn Studios founder and creative director Gavin Mathieu, hopes to inspire creativity and self-expression, drawing inspiration from the fashion trend of “normcore.”
According to the tech giant, the aesthetics surrounding the project place the focus on an individual’s strengths, rather than the clothing they’re wearing, which it said is “a guiding principle and mission that drives everything we do at Microsoft.”
Believing that “expression should be effortless,” Mathieu took care to ensure the capsule—which comprises tees, hats, sweats, jackets, and pants—was simple, with every piece being intentional.
In fact, the designer revealed Microsoft and MS Paint were what inspired him to pursue the path of creativity, and that “humans are at their highest level of self when they create.”
Retailing for US$45 to US$150, the collection is now up for grabs on its official website, though it’s likely the designs featuring Microsoft’s ultra-recognizable desktop background will be the first to run out.
“Check out the collection, but don’t stop at the clothes. Understand and carry the message that creativity is not on you, it’s in you, and it knows no bounds,” quipped the brand.
