Liverpool FCis hyping up fan spirit in a different way with psychedelic jerseys inspired by dance culture and house music.
The 2022–2023 away kits sport kaleidoscopic waves in iridescent shades of blue, green, and pink on a white background, resembling trippy strobe lights in a club or rave.
Liverpool was home to a thriving club scene back in the 90s, which played host to several big-named DJs at the time. As such, the kits pay homage to the major role Liverpool played in the evolution of dance music.
The font on the jerseys has also gotten a Liverpool city redesign, emulating signs on the streets of Penny Lane and Anfield Road. Players’ names will sit on a plain white strip on the back for legibility.
The kits were donned by Liverpool stars Ibrahim Konate, Diogo Jota, and Roberto Firmino in a special launch video. A song created by Liverpool-based musicians Ben Sharples and DJ Yousef was also created just for the video.
Fans won’t have to wait long to see the kits out on the pitch as the gear will first be worn in a friendly match against Manchester United in Bangkok, Thailand, on July 12. The jerseys will be available for sale from August 19.
