LEGO Commemorates Atari’s 50th Anniversary With Buildable 2600 Model
If you have cherished memories racking up hundreds of hours on what’s often known as the “original game console,” you’ll definitely want to get your hands on the newly-confirmed LEGO Atari 2600 model.
No doubt a trip back to simpler times, the video advertising the latest model features footage of a young boy opening his Christmas presents in the year 1982, where he’s incredibly excited to have received an actual Atari.
Fast forward to the present day, and LEGO announces it’s finally tracked down the same boy to gift him its version of the 2600 ahead of the console’s 50th anniversary, which is slated to be released next month.

According to LEGO, the set will comprise 2,532 pieces, and while not as large as the toymaker’s latest king-sized Bowser release, will cost nearly just as much at US$240. Though, given how much of a nostalgic gift this is, it’s likely no one will bat an eyelid at the rather hefty price tag.
Featuring the same brown shades present on the 80s console, the set comes with faux wood paneling and colossal metal switches for the perfect old-school look, including the iconic single-button joystick, and replica cartridges for Adventure, Asteroids, and Centipede—all of which fit into a mini holder.
As per Eurogamer, this model is the second LEGO set of a gaming console, with the brand having previously released an iteration of the Nintendo Entertainment System. Fans can get their hands on the forthcoming launch from August 1, 2022.
