The Pentagon Will Now Hunt Down UFOs From Its Own Appointed Investigation Office

Last year, the Pentagon formed a new task force—with a very fancy name—to investigate unidentified flying object (UFO) sightings, dubbed the Airborne Object Identification and Management Group (AOIMSG). 

Now, the agency looking to the skies will be renamed the All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO), with expanded responsibilities to boot. The office will coordinate efforts across the Department of Defense and other federal departments and agencies to “detect, identify, and attribute objects of interest.” 

According to the statement, the focus will be placed on objects spotted “on or near military installations, operating areas, training areas, special use airspace, and other areas of interest” in a bid to “mitigate any associated threats to safety of operations and national security.” 

As Live Science notes, the US government has taken greater interest in UFOs in recent years, with the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence ordering an inquiry into the phenomena in 2020. 

A year later, the Pentagon released a report documenting more than a hundred sightings, though it concluded there was no evidence of alien activity. 

Will the new office eventually discover life outside of Earth? Only time will tell.
