Tinder Brings Back ‘Desk Mode’ That Disguises It As Work In The Office
There are perks and setbacks to this era of dating. When the pandemic struck, daters had the freedom of texting or swiping away in the comfort of their homes, but they couldn’t always meet their matches or partners. Now that offices have reopened, the digital courting is restricted to after hours. Of course, there’s the liberation of going out on dates again.
Now, what about those who wish to keep things spontaneous with a text or two during the daytime, without the risk of getting caught by their boss? Luckily for them, Tinder has relaunched a feature called ‘Desk Mode’ that makes them look busy at work, when they’re really being productive on the app.
Importantly, the feature is only accessible via the Tinder website on your desktop, since you should be working on your computer, anyway. With Desk Mode on, you can click on a small briefcase icon on the top right-hand corner upon spotting a coworker from your peripherals, which will pull up a business-like document.
Since debuting Desk Mode in 2017, Tinder has made it an on-and-off feature. It is now bringing it back for National Intern Day, explaining that rookies wouldn’t be as adept at multitasking yet.
The app says it was inspired to revive Desk Mode after a recent survey that revealed 30% of daters have swiped through their app during a meeting, and that 47% wish they could talk to their matches on company time.
