A new famous pet is moving to Tokyo, potentially stealing half the heart space currently occupied by the 3D calico cat in Shinjuku. From Friday, July 29, billboards near Shibuya Crossing will serve as lodgings for a giant Akita inu.
Notably, the optical-illusion pupper is the same breed as Hachiko, a dog commemorated for waiting for his dead owner more than nine years after the man’s passing. Hachiko, who died in 1935, is also the district’s mascot.
The furry new friend is being displayed on not just one but eight digital screens by way of advertising company Hit, Time Out Tokyo reports. In total, the 3D dog will roam around a space equivalent to three basketball courts.
