‘Pac-Man’ To Go Live Action—Surprise, It’s Not Its Debut On The Silver Screen

Since its introduction to arcades in 1980, there are few games as consuming as Pac-Man, with people of all ages familiar with the yellow, pellet-guzzling icon.

In fact, as Variety pointed out, the Guinness World Records crowned the game in 2005 as the “most successful coin-operated game machine” ever.

Now, game maker Bandai Namco and Wayfarer Studios have come together to collaborate on a live-action movie starring Pac-Man, based on an original screenplay by Lightbeam Entertainment’s Chuck Williams, who has worked on the latest Sonic the Hedgehog movies.

While this may come as a surprise—after all, what plot could a Pac-Man film possibly entail—it isn’t the first time the character has featured on the silver screen. 

According to CNET, the bright-colored blob made an appearance in 2015’s Pixels, which starred Adam Sandler. 

Nothing much has been revealed about the film’s possible actors or storyline just yet, though die-hard fans of the game will no doubt be hoping that Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde—the ghosts often seen hunting down Pac-Man—will show up too.
