Man Rents Billboard To Sell 1 Stick Of String Cheese, The Offers Are Unhinged

Ever wondered what it’d be like to rent out a billboard for a personal advertisement? Well, a man in Toronto did just that, advertising a single stick of string cheese on the giant sign, in hopes of capitalizing on the trading-up trend (yes, the one that turned a bobby pin into a house).

However, in an unexpected twist, it seems the owner of the cheese is now having second thoughts after being flooded by offers from curious buyers. 

According to Boing Boing, the man had initially placed the snack, which he found in a refrigerator at his new home, up for purchase on a Canadian website but didn’t receive any interest.

Thus, he decided to (quite literally) go big or go home, renting out an entire billboard to showcase the “for trade” advertisement.

“Accepting trades for one Cheesestring. Marble flavor. Still in original packaging. No lowballs. I know what I have,” the sign read. 

Much to his surprise, this tongue-in-cheek stunt has attracted buyers “in droves,” as per Global News. The man told the publication said that interested individuals have even called him multiple times, “because the first offer they had wasn’t good enough.” 

For now, one of the most astonishing offers was when someone offered two Persian cats in exchange for the single piece of string cheese.

Others were apparently willing to give up their trucks, and even their girlfriends, just for a stick of processed cheese. The advertiser has yet to formally accept any offer just yet.

While we’re not sure he’ll end up with a house like the last guy, it’s certain there’ll be no shortage of quirky offers from buyers desperately wanting to acquire this oh-so-special string cheese.
