EA Sports Will Honor Error That Sold ‘FIFA 23’ To Fans For Just 6 Cents
Whoops, EA Sports may have short-changed itself of a hefty profit after it mistakenly listed the upcoming FIFA 23 video game for just 4.8 rupees (US$0.06) on its Indian website.
Worse still, as per Front Office Sports, players outside of the country could snag the deal by simply changing their locations and paying for the extra discounted pre-purchase. The standard edition of the game costs approximately US$60.
While the error was indeed the fault of the game manufacturer, it has decided to honor these sneaky purchases, and will still allow players who bought the games for literal pennies to download it when it officially launches on September 30, 2022.
“A few weeks back, we scored a pretty spectacular own-goal when we inadvertently offered FIFA 23 pre-purchase on the Epic Games Store at an incorrect price,” said the company in an email.
“It was our mistake, and we wanted to let you know what we’ll be honoring all pre-purchases made at that price.”
