Apple Appears To Have Filed Trademarks For Potential Names Of AR/VR Headset

As rumors of Apple’s elusive AR/VR headset continue to swirl in the tech sphere, new legal applications hint at what it could eventually be named.

The filings were first spotted by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who pointed out that the names were being registered in America, Canada, the UK, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Uruguay, and Costa Rica.

According to the report, potential names like ‘Reality Pro’, ‘Reality One’, and ‘Reality Processor’ are all being taken by the tech company, preventing competitors from using them.

Gurman also states that the trademarks weren’t directly made under the Apple name, but instead registered under a company called Immersive Health Solutions. It is thought that this is a shell company that Apple uses to profile trademarks without drawing attention from the media.

The AR face-mounted device has not been properly announced by Apple. However, enthusiasts expect the company to properly introduce it in January 2023, as predicted by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. It is also expected to sell for US$2,000.

This would also mark Apple’s first new product category in many years, and potentially CEO Tim Cook’s last major product before retiring.

The anticipated headsets are rumored to have an 8K display, internal and external cameras, eye-tracking, and Apple’s M1 chip, which is also found in its 2020 MacBooks.
