Nike Presents Serena Williams’ Final US Open Outfit With Top-To-Toe Diamonds
Following the announcement of her impending retirement, tennis superstar Serena Williams is gearing up for the final US Open of her career, and this time, she’ll be taking to the court in a series of outfits that’ll have all eyes on her.
Designed together with creatives from Nike, the athlete will step onto the court for the last time in a figure-skating inspired dress, drawing on the dresses often worn by skaters, who embody gracefulness and elegance Williams was seeking to recreate.
As a nod to her six previous titles at Flushing Meadows, the skirt will comprise six layers, which can be worn with a matching jacket and tote bag—each featuring crystal appliqués mimicing the competition’s glittering night sky.
In addition, Williams will be donning a special diamond-encrusted NikeCourt Flare 2, which spares no expense. In fact, apart from the diamond-laden swoosh on its heel, the sneakers feature a solid gold lace deubré complete with 400 hand-set diamonds, sourced from her very own jewelry company.
The brand, which unveiled the Serena Williams Building at its headquarters earlier this year, said that the star will continue her partnership with Nike even after she retires from the sport, so fans can expect to see more dazzling outfits from her in the future.
