‘Winnie The Pooh’ Horror Film Debuts Trailer—Think It’ll Be Cute? Oh, Hunny

Remember when the scariest things on Winnie-the-Pooh were, perhaps, the Heffalumps? Well, not anymore. The honey-loving bear hasn’t just grown up to overcome his nightmares but also become the stuff of everyone’s night terrors.
In case you haven’t heard, the beloved Disney franchise is being remade as a horror film; without the House of Mouse, of course. Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey is produced by Jagged Edge Productions and directed by Rhys Frake-Waterfield, and it picks up decades after the animated version left off. And there’s a lot of red, though it’s not from Pooh’s shirt.
There’s still no release date in sight, but Jagged Edge Productions has released the first trailer for the slasher-comedy.
In Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, an adult Christopher Robin returns to the Hundred Acre Woods with his fiancée in hopes to reconnect with his old, loving friends.
It turns out that Pooh and Piglet haven’t been doing so well—they’ve regressed ever since Christopher Robin abandoned them. With little memory of being loved by a human, they’ve become feral animals with murderous instincts.
This inspired but unhinged sequel has been made possible as A.A. Milne’s Winnie-the-Pooh stories have entered the public domain as of January 1 this year. That means Disney has lost exclusive rights to this version, and a childhood favorite is released into the wild to go on a killing spree.
