Many users are already using the Apple Watch as a companion for workouts. However, there have been whispers that the Cupertino tech giant is unleashing a rugged ‘Pro’ version for more extreme sports. With the Far Out keynote event taking place a day from now, those whispers are getting louder.
To survive tougher usage by athletes and hikers, the rumored Apple Watch Pro is said to have a titanium chassis, plus a larger screen for added utility.
Thirteenth-hour reports and supposed CAD renderings for third-party cases have now stated that there’ll even be a new physical button on the left of the gadget. It is believed that this is a dedicated workout button, which Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says could be programmable with watchOS 9 to accommodate the wearer’s key needs.
The addition of a physical button for a watch built for fitness buffs makes sense—a touch screen would be quite clumsy for activities like biking or parasailing, and especially difficult to fiddle with when it’s raining.
A couple of things I’d point out regarding the Apple Watch Pro design: - No flat sides. They are rounded like the Series 7. - The new button on the left side is probably programmable to do whatever you want. For instance, launching a specific app, feature or workout.
