The future is now, and it apparently is the ability to switch between surfing through Netflix and buying non-fungible tokens with the flip of your television remote control.
LG is placing NFT galleries in the homes of customers with a television system update that lets viewers browse the digital token sphere for potential additions to their collection while taking breaks in between a series binge.
Those who live in America and own an LG television that supports webOS 5.0 or later will have access to the LG Art Lab, which is supported by the Hedera cryptocurrency market and will use LG’s Wallpyto to store the artwork.
In order to purchase an NFT, viewers will have to scan a QR code using the Wallypto app. The art will also be kept on the LG Art Lab platform under the ‘My Collection’ section, where it can be set as the televisions wallpaper. If you ever get bored of looking at your chosen artwork, you can trade it on the market for something else.
Other than that, LG has only promised special exclusive content to be provided with certain projects.
To commemorate the launch, a special release with sculptor Barry X Ball will mark the Art Lab’s first digital token curation.
It’s hard to say how this new feature will grow and develop as the ever-changing crypto market is currently experiencing a low, which would likely deter many from investing in NFTs. Nevertheless, LG and other brands are still taking time to create innovative ways to incorporate Web3 into their products.
