Kellogg’s Serves Up ‘Insta-Bowls’ With Water Activated Milk For Cereal On The Go

Ah, the age-old breakfast table debate of whether you pour the milk in first, or the cereal. Well, Kellogg’s is stirring up the argument with a new twist—as it now suggests adding water instead.

Don’t worry, the milk is not going anywhere. Dubbed its “first-ever cereal innovation”, the food manufacturing giant has developed a new line of portable cereal meals with milk crystals already mixed in. Just add water and, bam!, you’ve got yourself a serving of creamy ‘Insta-bowls’.

The secret ingredient working the magic is actually instantized milk. According to CNN, Chris Stolsky, marketing director at Kellogg’s, stated that the science behind this dehydrated milk is a proprietary process that allows it to retain its components when evaporated. So when water is introduced again, the crystals transforms back into a creamy liquid that still contains the same amount of nutrients.

Also, as increasingly more people move away from traditional dairy, Kellogg’s is experimenting to provide an option for people who prefer milk alternatives.

Currently, the instant bowls are available in four classic flavors: Apple Jacks, Fruit Loops, Frosted Flakes, and Raisin Bran Crunch.

As back-to-office activities return and people resume leaving the house once again for breakfast, being able to have a dish of cold milky cereal on the go will definitely help beat the morning dash.

The Instabowls are being sold at Walmart for US$1.98 and will eventually serve out to more retailers in the future.
