The party don’t start till you walk into the kitchen, where you might find this refrigerator that dreams of being more than just a kitchen appliance.

At the recent IFA 2022 in Berlin, LG Electronics unveiled its new ‘MoodUP’ technology, equipping a fridge with a customized lighting scheme that displays a wide range of vibrant colors. The gadget “blur[s] the lines between design and tech,” says the company.

Not only does the fridge allow users to toggle its colors based on their mood or the environment, but it also comes with a built-in Bluetooth speaker that’ll let them blast their favorite tunes while cooking or entertaining guests.

Through the LG ThinQ app, customers can choose from 22 colors to adorn the upper (refrigerator) door panel, and 19 colors for the other (freezer), enabling an almost instantaneous change in atmosphere depending on what’s selected.

The panels can also be customized to match a certain aesthetic, with users given the choice to apply unique color themes, such as those centered on the seasons of the year. They could also match the vibrant colors with a specially-curated playlist on the app, featuring 69 songs covering seven different themes.

While the music plays, the panels change color in sync with the beat, adapting to the mood of the party.

In addition, the intuitive fridge comes with convenient notifications that alert users when a door has been left open, and has motion sensors so it can tell if you’re approaching—lighting up the LED panels as a welcome.

According to the firm, this product is the first LG refrigerator to be fitted with the brand’s On-Device Artificial Intelligence (AI) chip, integrating advanced AI to improve user experience with voice and vision recognition, wifi, and Bluetooth connectivity.

“Incorporating LG’s innovative design and cutting-edge technologies, the new refrigerator with MoodUP technology delivers functionality and convenience by adding a level of elevation to the home kitchen while keeping food fresher for longer,” said Barndt Varner, Vice President of Product Marketing.

“From customizable colors and moods to personalized playlists, this unique refrigerator demonstrates LG’s commitment to expanding and evolving the user experience for a better life at home,” he concluded.
