Porsche Creates Camping Tent To Turn Car Tops Into Outdoor ‘Hotel Rooms’
Glamping is getting an automotive upgrade as Porsche has designed a camping tent attachment for the tops of its 911 series.
Porsche Tequipment’s add-on unfolds into a tent—or a “hotel room for nature lovers,” as the brand describes—on the top of your sports car. The tent is encased in a hard frame developed by Weissach Development Center alongside Studio F.A. Porsche.
It can support up to 310 pounds on the Taycan and Cayenne coupe, and 420 pounds on the Macan, Cayenne SUV, Taycan Cross, and Sport Turismos.
The camping equipment comes with an integrated plush mattress, bendable cotton walls, and a floor space of 210 x 130 cm. It can fit two people comfortably for a night under the stars—or a night of stormy weather, as the tent’s material is waterproof and designed to withstand nature’s unpredictable elements. The 911’s famous flyline also brands the side of the attachment.
To give their occcupants a comfortable night’s sleep, the sleeping quarters come with mosquito nets on their windows and a black-out feature that let users sleep in during vacations.
To assemble their Porsche tent, drivers can simply unlatch the safety locks and raise the hard case, and the tent will unfold with its extended floor support ladder. Its main portion will need four poles to keep it erect, and voilà! They’re ready to spend the night on top of your Porsche.
The canopy comes in either Black/Light Gray or Black/Dark Gray options, and will be ready for sale in November 2022 at a price of US$5,020.
