Apple Watch Ultra Repairs Cost More Than An Apple Watch Without AppleCare+
If you’re thinking of getting your hands on the brand-new Apple Watch Ultra, you may want to add on AppleCare+ coverage for an extra US$99, considering the rugged device already starts from US$799.
This is because, as per Apple’s website, repairing a damaged Watch Ultra will set you back an eye-watering US$499 without the care plan, a huge jump from the US$299 to US$399 the brand charged to tinker with the Apple Watch Series 8.
To put things into perspective, a brand-new Apple Watch Series 8 starts from US$399 for the Wi-Fi-only version, and it costs US$499 for the cellular variation.
Unfortunately, even with AppleCare+, Watch Ultra users won’t be exempt from paying up, as battery replacements will set customers back US$99 even if they have opted for coverage, with a US$79 service charge required each time they send their Watch in.
Nonetheless, if you’re clumsy, it’s probably still a smarter decision to cough up the US$99 up front, or pay US$4.99 per month for AppleCare+, as it insures you for “unlimited incidents of accidental damage protection.”
