If you’ve been on the internet long enough, you’d know the handy trick of entering a search keyword alongside the website you’re looking for. For example, “how do I fix a leaking tap Reddit.”
Now, instead of requiring you to be an expert at Google-Fu, the search engine is making it easier to find content from online discussions, by introducing a new feature that will appear when you look up something that may benefit from relevant personal experiences.
Under the label ‘Discussions and Forums’, users will find helpful information from a variety of popular forums.
If you’re searching for the best family vehicles, now, in addition to the usual results, you’ll see links to discussions on relevant advice, like which are the best minivans for transporting children.
Additionally, Google is working to break down language barriers when it comes to news, hoping to allow people all over the globe to get local perspectives on international stories.
Come early 2023, it will be launching a new feature that will enable users to find translated news coverage using machine translation.
For example, when searching up articles about an earthquake in Mexico, you’ll not only be able to access news written in your native language, but can see view translated headlines from publishers within the country itself.
With these updates, Google hopes users will have an easier time finding relevant information across the web, as well as “make informed choices and learn more about what’s going on around the world.”
