Maserati Goes Green With The Unveiling Of Its First-Ever Electric Car
Just four years shy of its 100th anniversary, Maserati is opening the doors to a new chapter in its storied history with the rollout of its first all-electric car, the GranTurismo Folgore.
The automaker reveals that the sports vehicle will hit the roads next year, alongside the Modena and Trofeo, two gas-powered versions launching at the same time.
With its name meaning “lightning” in Italian, it’s only fitting the Folgore is the most powerful of the bunch, comprising a 92.5kW battery to power three 300kW motors, delivering an impressive 760 horsepower.
According to a statement, the brand took care to ensure the GranTurismo—an undoubtedly recognizable silhouette—embodied both aesthetics and function in the form of aluminum, magnesium, and high-performance steel, without having it appear over the top.
Within its confines, the modern cabin will come with the Maserati Intelligent Assistant (MIA) Multimedia system, the latest infotainment capabilities, and a comfortable touchscreen display that merges all the car’s main functions into one.
Naturally, as with any other Maserati, the all-electric model will feature its signature engine roar as part of an “all-around sound experience,” using an immersive 3D sound system with two levels of customization.
All vehicles sold as part of the launch will have been developed at the Maserati Innovation Lab and produced at the Mirafiori manufacturing hub in Turin, Italy.
