When it’s not dreaming up the latest designs to take over the roads, Lamborghini focuses on something rather unexpected: bees.
To make its operations more sustainable, the automaker revealed that in 2016, it installed an apiary housing an estimated 600,000 bees at the Lamborghini Park in Italy.
Of course, innovative technology is involved in its operations, with the Audi Environmental Foundation coming up with ways to best monitor the bees’ health, environment, and work rate so experts can better support colonies as the impacts of climate change worsen.
Interestingly, as Motor1 reports, the Italian supercar brand isn’t the only automaker to produce its own honey. Porsche boasts an even larger apiary with three million bees, and makes approximately 2,204 pounds of honey annually.
Additionally, UK-based Rolls Royce breeds its own bees too, being home to six colonies of 300,000 English honey bees. The company even allowed staff to volunteer as beekeepers at its headquarters.
