In 2020, Topshop announced that it was under administration after years of struggling to profit. The loss was a blow to street fashion as teens and twenty-somethings mourned the shop’s closing.
But as resilient as Topshop was at its prime, it decided to pick itself up. Asos and Nordstrom eventually swooped in with a £230 million (US$257 million) deal that allowed the brands to live exclusively on their websites.
The slow revival of the labels continues as Moving Brands jumps in to upheave both Topshop’s and Topman’s aesthetics and modernize them for today’s youth.
The total turnaround removes the black hues and bold lettering and melds Topshop and Topman together in a united logo of two intertwining T’s. The monogram is crafted into a pattern that might be introduced to future collections.
The campaign also sees a warm orange background with the brand in black. The color palette takes inspiration from their previous physical stores that used to have orange and black signage hung up.
Along with the new branding and monogram is a collection of stills depicting models dressed and styled in true Topshop fashion.
While Topshop never entirely left the fashion world, its partial absence was significantly noticed by many fans of the labels and critics alike. So here’s to hoping that this campaign heralds a new beginning for the high street store.
