As most automakers look towards a new era of electric vehicles, Honda isn’t one to be left behind, with the brand introducing its first-ever all-electric SUV, the Prologue.
Due to hit the roads in 2024, the car will be the first of a whopping 30 battery-powered vehicles the company has pledged to launch by the end of the decade.
Featuring a sleek ‘Neo-Rugged’ exterior and expanded interior, the Prologue was jointly developed with General Motors, and is built on the firm’s battery technology, dubbed the ‘Ultium’.
As per PC Mag, the Ultium system differs from those in many other electric vehicles in the fact that it doesn’t just consist of one large battery, but is rather made up of a series of pouches that can be replaced when newer ones are developed.
According to Honda, the vehicle will have a wheelbase of 121.8 inches, measuring eight inches longer and five inches wider than the recently released Honda CR-V.
The North ShorePearl paint adorning the car is an exclusive color, inspired by the natural beauty of Lake Tahoe in California; with the picturesque image of fallen snow on mountains used as the basis for the charcoal and light gray interior.
“Our goal was to create a clean harmony based on a rugged SUV image by coordinating the colors and materials to express neo-rugged design styling that’s familiar to our customers and uniquely Honda,” explains Design Lead Masaki Sumimoto.
More details on the Prologue will be announced in the coming months.
