Steve Jobs Has Been Resurrected By AI To Go On Podcast With Joe Rogan
It seems like everyone these days is either hosting or guest-starring on a podcast. If Steve Jobs were alive today, he’d likely be one too. This notion wasn’t just a pipe dream to Podcast.ai, which has resurrected Apple co-founder Steve Jobs and placed him on an episode hosted by equally AI-generated but alive Joe Rogan.
Podcast.ai is a new weekly show that deep-dives into various innovations that are dependent on artificial intelligence. And who better to be its first guest than the tech guru?
In order to perfectly capture the voices of both Jobs and Rogan, the company tapped into play.ht and utilized its library of 907 realistic voices to bring the two hosts to life. The voices may resemble Jobs and Rogan pretty well, but there is an edge that reminds listeners that they aren’t listening to real people talk.
For example, the laughter feels a little stiff, as though a text-to-speech function was used. Nothing close to the zeal of a tech innovator who is passionate about revolutionizing the industry and world.
During the interview, bot ‘Rogan’ and bot ‘Jobs’ discussed all things tech. However, AI Jobs neglected to mention the Macintosh or other Apple products, instead focusing on the differences between his company and Microsoft, as well as Google’s perceived shared vision with Apple.
Outside of tech, both voices also touched on Jobs’ past at Reed College, Zen Buddhism, and taking psychedelics.
According to Podcast.ai, the model was instructed to mimic Steve Jobs’ voice and inflections by feeding every speech clip available online. It also taught his biography to give a better understanding of Jobs.
With that comes the morality of such a program. It might be nice to hear from Jobs again after so many years, but is it worth disturbing his peace for an AI to mash together his soundbites from over the years?
