Rimowa’s New Chest Lets You Cart A Dozen Wine Bottles Around The World In Style
Not long after Rimowa dusted its ‘Eroded Turntable’ with Daniel Arsham, it is now ready to serve up a full party with a dozen bottles of wine, no less.
As its name suggests, the ‘Twelve Bottle Case’ has room for 12 of your favorite vintages, which will be snug in protective paddings of various thicknesses to accommodate vessels of different sizes to ensure arrival in good shape.
The containers are encased within Rimowa’s signature grooved silver hard shell casing, with black leather straps, and a Transport Security Administration (TSA) approved lock.
But if you’re not looking to take the wine party with you everywhere you travel and instead are looking for something to store them in, the Rimowa luggage can double up as a display stand. The base of the case has stabilization support that can lock its feet and ensure it doesn’t fall over while on show in your home.
This accommodating luggage wouldn’t exist if not for basketball legend LeBron James.
According to Vogue, the superstar athlete had gotten the idea for the multi-carrier case after seeing Rimowa’s previous iteration that could only hold one bottle and a couple of glasses. He brought the idea forward and continued to track its processes as the team worked on developing a product that could carry a selection of wine.
To celebrate the launch, Rimowa has worked with Wine Access to curate a collection of 12 rare Cabernets from Heritage Vineyard that is already available on its website.
However, if you’re more interested in the case itself, you will have to wait till November 25, when it will roll into stores globally and set you back a sobering US$7,290.
