The worlds of wanderlusters and coffee addicts are merging. Delta Air Lines and Starbucks have paired up to launch a joint loyalty program rewarding miles and ‘Stars’ with every drink you buy.
That means you can now let your caffeine addiction fuel your next flight. To enable rewards on both ends, all you need to do is link your Delta SkyMiles account with your Starbucks Rewards membership. Then, sit back, sip some coffee, and watch as the points roll in.
According to thenews release, one mile will be awarded for every dollar spent on any Starbucks product. Meanwhile, you will earn double the Starbucks Stars on days you are scheduled to travel with Delta Air Lines.
Those who link their accounts between October 12 and December 31 will receive 500 miles by Delta and 150 Stars.
With this unusual pairing, Starbucks hopes its more than 27 million members will benefit further from its loyalty program, says Ryan Butz, Starbucks vice president of loyalty strategy and marketing.
Starbucks previously went down the non-fungible token route by offering collectibles for its customers to procure and trade. While that venture may not be everyone’s cup of coffee, this one may take the cake—because, having come out of a pandemic, who doesn’t aspire to explore the other parts of the globe?
