eBay Bans Sales Of Jeffrey Dahmer Costumes For Violating Guidelines

Ryan Murphy’s Dahmer-Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story series on Netflix has brought about renewed interest in the Milwaukee Cannibal. However, true-crime fanatics’ dreams of going as the serial killer this Halloween have been dashed.
 
Those who wished to procure Dahmer-inspired costumes on eBay are now being banned because the marketplace has deemed that they violate its Violence and Violent Criminals policy.
 
eBay said to Gizmodo that the guidelines prohibit glorifying violent acts or individuals that perpetuate such activities. Dahmer happens to be an embodiment of these. The ruling was put in so the company could protect shoppers against others wishing to profit off the sale of nefarious items.

For those who are unaware, during his killing spree, Dahmer murdered, mutilated, and ate 17 young men between the 70s and 80s. 
 
The eBay listings were first spotted by BuzzFeed News, which obtained images of an orange jumpsuit costume and a mask depicting Evan Peters, who played the Milwaukee Monster in the new biopic.
 
Since the news came out, if you were to type in “Jeffrey Dahmer costume” into eBay, you would be presented with an alert that states, “No exact matches found.” The only suggested items that follow it are newspaper clippings from his trial, prints of either Dahmer himself or Peters, and biographies of his life.
