Hyundai Opens ‘First-Of-A-Kind’ Outdoor Hotel Powered By Cars
We’ve heard of eco-friendly hotels, but what about one completely powered by an electric vehicle?
That’s what this automaker is offering with Hotel Hyundai, which has just opened its doors as “the most unique” outdoor glamping experience yet.
Said to be the world’s first car-powered hotel, the establishment was dreamed up by broadcaster Grace Dent, following research that showed nearly half of respondents valued sustainability as more important when choosing accommodation options for vacations as compared to five years before.
Plus, more holidaymakers are turning to local staycations rather than heading abroad, in hopes of reducing their carbon footprint by cutting out plane trips, and finding less expensive means of vacationing due to the ever-increasing cost of living.
For its first stint, Hotel Hyundai will be located in Essex, United Kingdom, comprising a single luxury cabin with a guest suite designed by Colemans Farm, decked out with everything one can expect from a high-end boutique hotel.
The entire facility—including the lights and amenities—is powered by the IONIQ 5 and its Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology; providing a car socket into which everyday domestic appliances can be plugged.
There’s even a bar and restaurant attached, offering a sustainable menu and mixology specially curated by Dent, using locally-sourced ingredients from within the region.
Apart from an indoor and al fresco dining area, residents can enjoy a coffee lounge with espresso powered by the car.
To complete the relaxing stay, guests can head to the mini “cinema” to catch a film from the vehicle-powered projector and speakers, complete with a V2L popcorn machine for an authentic theatre experience.
