Virgin Airlines Debuts ‘Middle Seat Lottery’ To Fill Up Less Desirable Seats
Hate the middle seats? Well, you’re going to love them soon enough.
Airlines are well aware of this aversion shared by people the world over. Crazily enough, middle seats now take center, er, seat in a new promotional campaign by Virgin Australia involving a raffle and attractive prizes.
Brave Velocity Frequent Flyers aged 18 and up who have booked the less-coveted option on all flights through April 23, 2023 can join the ‘Middle Seat Lottery’. A draw will be held each week, with AU$230,000 (US$145,000) up for the taking at each round.
As comfortable as the window seat can be, it is nowhere near as plush and luxe as a cruise around the Caribbean. Or a two-night vacation in Cairns, Australia; including flights, lodging, a bungee jump, and a full-day helicopter pub crawl—all of which can be won from the raffle.
For soccer fans, the airline also offers weekly participants a chance to fly out to the Australian Football League Grand Final. Other prizes include a Platinum Velocity member status and a million extra miles.
With all that at stake, people just might start fighting for the middle seat now.
