While the metaverse may not be living up to its hype just yet, many early adopters have already begun to build houses in Web 3.0, and what better way to complete a luxurious virtual home experience than to equip it with a top-class sound system?
That is exactly what Bang & Olufsen offers with ‘The DNA Collection’, its first foray into non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The launch will comprise 1925 digital collectibles that will double up as tokens for future exclusive products, created in partnership with several web artists.
Artists involved in the project include early NFT adopter Hackatao, who sees digital art pieces as “the pop art of our century,” Danish designer Thomas Lin Pedersen who’s known for more abstract works combining algorithmic pieces with classic techniques, and Shavonne Wong, a renowned metaverse artist specializing in 3D model work.
The collection was inspired by its humble beginnings when it was founded in 1925, and hopes to pay homage to its two founders’ foresight for breaking new ground as it steps into another frontier: the metaverse.
According to thecompany, the NFTs will feature four digital products, including the Beogram 4000 turntable, Beoplay A9, and Beolab 90 speakers, broken up into specific elements—such as legs, frames, front covers, and back covers; along with digital materials that can be applied to the products.
During the mint, buyers will receive a randomized selection of products and materials, allowing them to create a unique collection of iconic Bang & Olufsen products that can be modified according to the collector’s aesthetic.
Fans who successfully mint an NFT part of the collection will be granted access to an Art Vial and Music Vial, allowing them to fuse both the visual and audio components of the brand, which it claims will create “a new kind of collectible.”
The DNA Collection NFTs will go on sale on November 17, 2022. Head here for more information on the launch.
