Prince Harry Titles Memoir ‘Spare’, Plans To Release Honest Story Come January

At last, Penguin Random House has announced Prince Harry’s long-awaited memoir will hit bookstores on January 10, 2023.

Titled Spare, it’s said the book would comprise the Duke of Sussex’s personal account of his life as royalty and why he decided to give it up and move to the United States. 

As the BBC noted, the release’s title is probably a nod to the old phrase of monarchies needing an “heir and a spare.” With his brother first in line to become King, Prince Harry may be referring to himself as the “spare” in this situation. 

According to CNN, the 416-page book will also include the Duke’s recollection of being at his mother’s funeral in 1997, and his story will be told with “raw, unflinching honesty.” 

Part of the proceeds from the sale of the book will go towards charity, with US$1.5 million headed towards Sentebale, an organization co-founded by the Prince to help children living with HIV, and £300,000 (US$345,000) to WellChild, a British charity taking care of children will rare illnesses. 

It doesn’t seem Buckingham Palace or any of the other members of the royal family will have much to say on the matter, with the palace declining to comment on the book’s launch.
