Twitter is a great place to showcase art, get into discourse, receive updates on your favorite personalities, and now—sell your non-fungible tokens (NFT).
The social media platform has announced the introduction of ‘NFT Tweet Tiles’, a new system in testing that could allow crypto fanatics to market their NFTs using regular posts.
The news was shared on the Twitter Dev account, the team behind each significant upgrade to the platform’s user interface. As per the announcement, digital token marketplaces, including Magic Eden, Rarible, Dapper Labs, and Jump.trade, will be the first to link up with the social network site.
Those interested in digital tokens will note that OpenSea is notably absent from the list.
The Tilesfeature will sport a new enlarged layout to better showcase the artwork and the creator’s name and details. Users will also be able to directly access the listing through the post.
With the sharing of digital art between users, this option could give these platforms more versatility and Twitter itself an aesthetic upgrade. Twitter probably expects NFT markets to heed its appeal and visit the site to advertise.
It might be a win-win situation for both parties, given the network’s large readership, because these marketplaces and artists will get visibility, even if Twitter potentially might take a percentage of each sale.
And with Elon Musk only beginning to take the company’s reigns, it is unlikely he would have any personal involvement in the move.
