$40,000 ‘World’s First Web3 Phone’ Can Create NFTs On The Go

Luxury phone manufacturer Vertu has a new ultra-extravagant device up its sleeve, and this time it’s diving into the world of Web3.

 
‘Metavertu’ is the first phone from the brand since it closed in 2017. However, instead of just offering top-quality hardware, it’s also bringing forward the “world’s first Web3 phone.” 
 

The handset can apparently run its own blockchain, allowing users to create non-fungible tokens on the fly. 
 
It features two distinct operating systems, one of which was created especially for NFTs and blockchain technology. Owners can send peer-to-peer encrypted messages, run an Ethereum node directly on the device, and download other decentralized apps.

Additionally, it has a built-in blockchain chip that Vertu claims are as secure as that of major financial institutions to protect you and your crypto wallet from hackers.
 
Running this is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8Gen1 processor that can swap between Web2 and Web3 functionalities. 
 
Regarding specs, it has a 6.7-inch screen made from Vertu’s signature sapphire glass, 1080p resolution, and a 35mm lens that can take 64-megapixel photos.

As you might be using it to amp up your NFT profile or keep track of the Ethereum market, the phone has a nine-layer cooling system to ensure it never overheats, no matter how long you use it. And with all that usage, storage might be a primary concern for some.
 
The Basic model comes with 512 GB of internal storage and 12 GB of memory, while the Pro has 1 TB of storage and 18 GB of memory.

But before you run out to get one, you should be warned that prices start at a jaw-dropping US$3,600 for the basic carbon fiber model, and it can soar up to US$41,500 for the version made from Himalay Alligator leather and is edged by 18-karat gold and diamonds.
