Audio-Technica Relaunches 1980 Portable Turntable With Some New Modern Twists

In 1980, Audio-Technica first introduced the ‘Sound Burger’, a portable clamshell-style turntable that allowed audiophiles to take their records on the go. 40 years later, the company has modernized and incorporated new features to fit into the lives of the modern-day vinyl collector.
 
One of the most notable additions is its Bluetooth connector. This allows listeners to hook their wireless headphones or earbuds to the record player and tune into some crisp audio. However, if you wish to connect your headphones to the device physically, it will ship with an RCA connector.

Next, it is putting the days of rummaging through the house for three C-cell batteries behind, as it comes with a lithium-ion battery and a USB-C port for charging. In addition, you will be presented with 12 hours of playback on a single charge.
 
The 2022 model also has a DC servo motor for its belt-drive system to enhance “stable rotation.” This removes the need always to be placed on a flat surface to work, as its predecessor once did.

Audio-Technica has also employed its ATN3600L stylus in the new iteration to provide a “dynamic balance system.” 

Outside of this, it holds the same hallmarks of the previous version that had forged a cult following.
